a review of 天降美食2

Regarded cynically, Cloudy with a Chance of meatballs 2 delivers what most sequels do: more of the same, because it has become a brand / franchise that can generate more profit. I liked the first film, and I thought this one was moderately enjoyable, but very conventional and predictable, playing it safe with the scenario as well as the characters, throwing in some popular Kawaii cuteness for good measure. On a positive note, I loved the smooth, articulate animation of the bearded scientist, who was clearly a wink to Steve Jobs, similar to the Steve Jobs inspired character in Next Gen (2018).
