Wildlife (2018)

I've got a soft spot for Paul Dano, and this is his directorial debut, assisted by Jake Gyllenhaal as one of the producers. Wildlife is a modest film about a dysfunctional family in the 1950s. I was impressed by the gentle boy character that was convincingly played by Ed Oxenbould. Jake Gyllenhaal's performance was decent. Ever since Donnie Darko, tortured characters fit him like a glove. The cinematography also deserves praise. I liked the use of subtle afternoon sunlight to establish a serene atmosphere.
