Halloween (2018)

My god, this is blasphemy! John Carpenter's original Halloween is a horror landmark, and one of my all-time favorite films, even though it has become dated in terms of scare factor, also because it has been imitated numerous times. I was hoping the new Halloween would pay a nice tribute to the original, but this was so bad that I don't even know where to start ranting. Jamie Lee Curtis really shouldn't have accepted this role, and I'm hoping John Carpenter wasn't really an active executive producer, but just got a nice bit of cash so the studio could mention his name as a brand for promotional purposes. Not a single second did this Halloween version thrill me. The direction and performances were abominable, and attempting to translate the original plot to the present time just doesn't work. There were so many situations not credible anymore in this era of mass communication, and there was way too much unrealistic stupidity and naivety among the characters. Bottom line: the original Halloween should have been left resting in loving memory.
