Brick (2006)

Sometimes a film just doesn't work for you. Brick is such a film in my case. Joseph Gordon Levitt was too cool, the characters felt too contrived and the film felt pretentious, trying to establish a coolness with an absurdist streak, which irritated me rather than entertained me. I switched it off after about fifteen minutes, which is usually my threshold for finding out whether a film is going to work out for me. The whole atmosphere felt a bit like Under The Silver Lake, but I kind of liked that one.
