a review of 夺魄冤魂

The Changeling is one of those supernatural ghost house films that used to freak me out as a kid, making me afraid to go to the bathroom alone. I've still got a soft spot for such films, but my angst threshold has elevated after watching several dozen films of the genre throughout the years. Although it has become dated, The Changeling still has an effective atmosphere. Made in 1980, the cinematic style with camera zooms, flanging sound effects, contemporary musical score and lack of computer-generated effects establish a certain impression of authenticity. I also liked the avoidance of an apparition throughout the film, which can easily make things corny.
