Love, Simon (2018)Love, Simon is a disarming story about the coming-out of a homosexual boy. The film's presentation balanced on the edge of being too polished, with too many well-groomed upper-class boys and girls owning expensive mobile phones and laptops, and with nearly every scene being accompanied by a thumping Pop music track. In my humble opinion, a more modest, slightly grittier approach would have made it more sincere. But that aside, the message is good and important to be told, to battle against the taboos that sadly still surround the subject. The scene with the main character and his dad near the end of the film gave me a lump in my throat the size of a rock. 🙂
