A Simple Plan (1998)Being a Sam Raimi fan, A Simple Plan was an interesting deviation from his usual caricatural or comic storylines and characters. A Simple Plan is a Neo-Noir plot with a fatalistic undertone, about three men finding a lot of cash in a crashed airplane, causing problems to start accumulating. All actors gave away decent performances, particularly the late Bill Paxton. Billy Bob Thornton was also good, as usual, but I found his character just a bit too whimsical to be totally credible. In the end, the believability of the unfolding precarious situations left a little bit to be desired, but if you look at it through Tarantino goggles and don't take A Simple Plan too seriously, it's a fine piece of entertainment.
