Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a charming film about a rebellious kid and his grumpy foster uncle (Sam Neill) who get lost in the wild New Zealand bush. This is the third Taika Waititi film I've seen, and I still like the first one I saw the most: Boy (2010). After that I saw What We Do In The Shadows, which I also liked, but a little less than Boy. Hunt for the Wilderpeople is disarming, and has a number of funny moments, but I laughed mostly during the first half of the film. In the second half the film changes into what might be called a Deliverance (1972) satire, ending with a bombastic, Blues Brothers-esque mass car chase that fully turns Hunt for the Wilderpeople into a kids movie.
