a review of 彗星之夜

Expectation... Reading the raving comments at IMDb about Night of the Comet made me look forward to a fun, campy 1980s flashback. Reality... Night of the Comet turned out to be a rather uninspired, dull tale of two girls who are the almost-sole survivors of a comet disaster. The concept allows for much more fun than Night of the Comet delivered. Most of the long, boring scenes take place in uninteresting indoor environments, with barely amusing dialogues. The zombie element is restricted to just a few scenes, and the girls don't seem to care much that their family and friends were vaporized by the comet. In stead, they have fun dressing up in an abandoned warehouse, which is actually one of the more entertaining scenes in the film, until a bunch of ridiculous bad guys show up. All in all, I've seen much worse 1980s film trash than Night of the Comet, but that didn't keep me from getting bored halfway through the film.
