iBoy (2017)

I'd describe iBoy as a mix of The Matrix, Lawnmower Man, Chronicle, Black Mirror and Mr. Robot. When I read the concept — a boy who gets special abilities after an incident spread fragments of his mobile phone into his brain — I expected a campy, ridiculous film, but iBoy's plot is reasonably dark, blending fantastical elements with real-life drama. Similar to Chronicle, iBoy shows the possible negative consequences of using a gained superpower. I also really liked iBoy's suitable electronic soundtrack. All in all, iBoy is a charming small-scale film with a nice atmosphere. Not a masterpiece, but entertaining.
