Resurrection (2016)Resurrección started as a reasonably intriguing Poe-esque Gothic horror film that felt like a homage to 1970s Hammer horror, featuring beautiful sets. But the overly dramatic, soap-like acting pulled me out of the cinematic illusion, and Resurrección soon started to drag. The main character kept stumbling on and on through the mansion, and the thin, cliche-filled plot made me yawn, until I stopped watching the film after about an hour. It just didn't work for me. I've also grown tired of Christian religion in horror movies, especially crosses. It worked in the 1970s, when films like The Exorcist and The Omen made effective use of it. But in 2016 it has become too hackneyed to resort to religion and crosses in horror for the millionth time.
