Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995)

I hadn't seen Die Hard: With a Vengeance since the time it appeared, so it was time to rewatch it. I couldn't remember much of it anymore, other than not finding it a good movie back then. The first half hour or so is actually pretty good. Solid action and tense moments while Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson race against time trying to stop bombs from exploding. But the plot goes downhill when Jeremy Irons starts an extremely unlikely multi-billion dollar mega-heist in the Federal Reserve Bank with an army of caricatural, stereotypical German bad guys, accompanied by an annoying bombastic war march soundtrack. From then on, Die Hard: With a Vengeance becomes a farcical 1980s style action B-movie, with situations you can't take seriously anymore, and jokes that are seriously bad. In conclusion, I think there is only one brilliant Die Hard movie, and that's the original. As with the Lethal Weapon series of films, the sequels didn't manage to reach the quality level of the first one.
