a review of 怦然心动

Flipped has the ingredients of a heart-warming feelgood movie, but the child actors are too perfect, the cinematography is too glossy, and the story is too Disney. I'm a bit allergic to Hollywood utopias like this, the only place where the American Dream exists. A bit more imperfection of looks and behaviour would have made the characters more credible and more sympathetic. Now it's the perfectly glazed Netflix family film that lacks a true soul. But all cynicism set aside, this isn't the worst film of its kind. Well OK then, I admit that I even moderately enjoyed it. But don't tell anyone!
