I'd call Inherent Vice 'The Big Lebowski on acid'. It's too bad I wasn't intoxicated when I saw Inherent Vice, otherwise I would undoubtedly have rewarded it with more than three stars. Joaquin Phoenix is hilariously dopey. I frequently had to laugh just because of his facial expressions. The 1970s atmosphere is very well executed, and the scene where Josh Brolin eats Joaquin's full plate of weed made me laugh so hard that my cat ran away. On the negative side the overly complicated plot and many vague dialogues turned the experience into 'Incoherent Vice' for me, which is a pity, because I loved the dry humor.
