The Hateful Eight (2015)The Hateful Eight turned out to be a positive surprise after I read dozens of extremely hateful IMDb user reviews. I've got a love-hate relationship with Tarantino. He's a maestro in creating original characters and whimsical situations with black humor, but none of his films made it to my all-time top 50 (although I might reconsider adding Reservoir Dogs to that list). I regard Tarantino's films as amusing 'pulp fiction', to be experienced with a wink. I found some of his films downright boring, such as Death Proof, but I really enjoyed Kill Bill. The Hateful Eight is positioned on the positive side of my Tarantino valuation spectrum. I particularly loved Jennifer Jason Leigh's totally fucked-up character, and although Samuel L. Jackson's signature loud, angry, dominant character typecasting started to annoy me in the course of years, he regained some of my respect with his role in The Hateful Eight.
