The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)Guy Ritchie's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. follows the tradition of stylish contemporary spy flicks like James Bond, Mission Impossible, The Saint, and recently, Kingsman. I vaguely remember watching a rerun of the original Man from U.N.C.L.E. series starring David McCallum on television a long time ago. But let's talk about the movie... Despite the charismatic lead actors the movie suffers from the style over substance syndrome. Where a momentum of non-stop action is vital to a movie like this, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. gets stuck in too much boring conversation, wrapped in a plot that's so hackneyed that nearly nothing comes as a surprise, and is larded with light-hearted humor that feels as contrived as the plot. In conclusion: I had reasonable fun watching The Man from U.N.C.L.E., but it could have been more. I prefer the chemistry between Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movies. To finish with a more positive note — I really like the soundtrack. :)
