a review of 黎明之前

I'm still trying to fully process what I just saw. Let me attempt to describe it as a recipe... Take two spoons of Friday the 13th, add a splash of Deliverance, mix it with some estrangingly lethargic B-acting, and let it cook until you've got Just Before Dawn. There are definitely ingredients for a cult classic, but Just Before Dawn is difficult to categorize. It seems lost in a twilight zone between amusingly naive 1980s campiness and a wannabe scary slasher horror, while featuring actors on valium. It was interesting to notice that the music was composed by Brad Fiedel, who would later rise to fame with the Terminator theme.
