Winter Sleep (2014)

The movies of Nuri Bilge Ceylan give me a longing for my Turkish roots. I'm a sucker for his melancholic portrayal of the vast, desolate Turkish countryside, and I admire how Ceylan can fill more than three hours with philosophical conversations without boring me. I love the irony, emancipation and character development in his films. I'd describe Ceylan as the Turkish equivalent of Terrence Malick — I guess his creations either move you deeply or bore you to death. I'm a fan.
