Ex Machina (2014)

I couldn't help having high expectations of Ex Machina after reading much hype about it. So did the movie live up to those expectations? Short answer: no. Elucidation: there was too much lack of credibility, and too many plot holes. To name just one example: how believable is a genius robotics engineer who looks like a young god, works out all the time, drinks like a fish, and dances like John Travolta? The characters felt as superficial as the overly flawless set designs. No chemistry, no depth, no soul, as if there were no humans at all, only robots. I also found the plot too predictable. A number of story elements were instantly guessable, such as the cause of the power failures. When it comes to the AI subject, I liked 'Her' much more.
