Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)While Everything Everywhere All At Once had multiple ingredients to turn it into a potentially exhilarating ride, it failed to grab me. I’m allergic to farcical, hysterical, over-the-top scenarios, and there was too much of that in Everything Everywhere All At Once (thank the multiverse for copy and paste). I love absurdism, but not absurdity. As a 15-year old I would undoubtedly have loved this film, but I’m probably getting too old for epilepsy-inducing ADHD cuts, motley dress-up parties and infantile slapstick humor. Almost two and a half hours of that really was too much to bear for me, and the hackneyed family ties message also didn't elevate my impression. I think Everything Everywhere All At Once wants too desperately to be… everything everywhere all at once. Given the intriguing subject matter, this had the potential to become a modern-day Back To The Future, but that would be too much credit for this messy, nervous and too lengthy flick. The three out of five stars are for the daring originality, the effects, and some of the concepts and designs.
