I rarely give 5 stars to a film, and it’s even a lot less likely I would give that to an Xmas-themed film, but here we go. I thoroughly enjoyed The Holdovers. The narrative, the 1970s recreation, the performances, the chemistry, the atmosphere, I was totally charmed. This could have easily derailed into mawkishness, but it kept feeling sincere, a great achievement.
