Top Secret! (1984)In the light of the sad passing of Val Kilmer, I decided to watch Top Secret, following Real Genius (1985), which I found entertaining. I thought the first half of Top Secret was reasonably amusing, despite the contemporary silly humor having become dated. But in the second half, the film got really yawn-inducing, with third-rate 1970s-style goofball jokes. The only scenes I really enjoyed were the scenes with a dancing and singing Val Kilmer. His Elvis imitations were pretty good, and show his potential to become Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s The Doors, which I consider to be Val’s best performance.
