a review of Anora

After reading all the praise, Anora did not live up to my expectations. I’m not a fan of farcical plots, and the seemingly endless hysterical screaming and arguing got on my nerves to the point of turning down the volume for a while. Furthermore, in my humble opinion, a little less sex would have benefitted the film. Despite my criticism, I thought the story was relatively original, and some of the situations did make me laugh, so a 7 out of 10 seems appropriate to me. But this is once again a testimonial to the relativity of Oscar hype.
