Casino (1995)Casino is one of the few Scorseses I hadn’t seen yet. I enjoyed it, although I don’t think it’s among his top films. To me, Taxi Driver is still his magnum opus, but I also love Goodfellas, After Hours, Bringing out the Dead and Wolf of Wall Street. Despite not ranking among Scorsese’s very best films to me, Casino is nevertheless another testimonial to his cinematic craftsmanship. The compositions, color schemes, camera pans, wardrobes, sets, lighting, casting, dialogues, everything is well thought out. Scorsese's recent film The Irishman seems a tribute to his Casino and Goodfellas type of narrative, with voice-overs and caricatural mobsters. Similar to Casino, I appreciated The Irishman, but think the films are too lengthy, causing them to start dragging in the last hour or so.
