La Haine (1995)The last time I saw La Haine was in 1995, when the film had just been released. So I only remembered some bits. La Haine is a great portrait of three juveniles who are more or less trapped in a vicious circle of poverty and criminality in a French ghetto. I loved the moody black and white cinematography, the dynamic camera movements, the feeling of autheticity, and the young Vincent Cassel. I also liked the surreal, absurdist scenes, such as the cow passing by in the ghetto, and the little man telling the Siberian poo tale in the Parisian toilet.
