When it comes to Christopher Nolan films, it's hit or miss for me. I think some of his films are overly convoluted, such as Inception. On the other hand, The Dark Knight is in my top 25 of favorite films. I think Nolan has managed to masterfully tell the story of a man who helped change the course of history, at the tragic cost of many innocent lives, but probably saving much more lives. Before I started watching Oppenheimer, I was afraid that it would be three hours of boring intellectual dialogue, but like Scorsese, Nolan managed to establish a consistent storytelling momentum that makes you forget the film's duration. I think Cillian Murphy gave away a grandiose performance. Like Heath Ledger became the Joker in The Dark Knight, Cillian became Oppenheimer.
