a review of 犬之力

I’m a sucker for slow-paced films set in a melancholic, desolate environment, reflecting transience. The Power of the Dog stands out in its atmosphere and cinematography. The scenario is an intriguing blend of sensuality, ominousness and tragedy. I enjoyed it, and it was not until after seeing it that I discovered that Jane Campion also made The Piano, which immediately made sense, as that’s also a compelling portrait of complex emotions.
