My favorite Cassavetes. Wish he’d done more mob stuff like Gloria or like The Killing Of A Chinese Bookie. Good soundtrack. Just love reading Gina Rowlands’ face as she thinks and schemes. I once heard an aphorism that was something like… Bad writing is when the hero is in a conflict and gets lucky to end the conflict (aka deus ex machina). Good writing is when the hero gets unlucky and has to work their way out of the conflict.  The only flaw in this is the ending is a little weak.
