More funny than scary. The only scary thing in the movie is the idea of having religious fundamentalists in your bedroom. Jump cuts to creepy green faced Regan. Jump cuts are the CHEAPEST and LAZIEST of horror tropes. So prosaic. I forgot how much of this movie is debating whether or not to do an exorcism. It really tedious and slow. We’re at 1 hour 29 minutes and the characters are not sure if they’re gonna do an exorcism. Finally we get the fog and the silhouette. If the entire movie looked this 15 second scene, then it would be a better movie. The ONLY good cinematography in the whole movie. Unfortunately 1/3 of the movie is priests taking. Two men shouting “THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!” at you over and over is legitimately unsettling. I need an old priest and a young priest to explain to me why people consider this scary. With Gourley And Rust podcast
