a review of 魔女嘉莉

There are some weak moments but this movie is justifiably lauded. About halfway through the film I started doubting it. Do you really want to rewatch someone getting psychologically abused? Heck… I wasn’t allowed to go to prom or any other dances because I was told “dancing is a sin.” It’s the climax of the film that pays off. The climax is the whole film. I wonder if this film played differently before and after Columbine and the school shooting epidemic? I doubt it. It feels like teenagers torturing each other is a universal truth.
