a review of 不羁夜

it's funny, the reviews are so divided on this that i feel kind of bad for having enjoyed it this much. and i mean the enduring question "how did he make something this good at 26?" well... being born in the right place, time, and economic status, right parents, supportive surroundings, etc. that always makes me not want to like things on principle. but here we are. i'm on a little Philip Seymour Hoffman kick and of course he was great and super super adorable. I love Scotty so much. i'm also kind of in love with Juilanne Moore as Amber Waves. I couldn't take my eyes off her. Mark Whalberg, yeah, maybe another casting choice there. But if I look at all the parts of this movie that could be delightful little shorts on their own, like Buck trying so hard to sell a hi fi stereo system, it's just really hard for me not to like this movie and the world in it.
