Toscana (2022)

"Toscana" is like comfort food — warm, cozy, and easy to enjoy, but definitely not groundbreaking. Theo, a fancy Michelin chef who reconnects with life, love, and himself in the gorgeous Tuscan countryside, the movie is perfect for when you just want to relax and smile a little. What’s Great The scenery is absolutely stunning! Shot in Tuscany, every shot feels like scrolling through gorgeous Italian postcards. The food, the sunlit hills, and the dreamy vibe of the countryside are enough to make you want to hop on the next flight to Italy. Anders Matthesen really stands out here. His portrayal of Theo might not have a super detailed or original script behind it, but he manages to bring just enough charm and depth to make you root for him. Cristiana Dell’Anna as Sophia is refreshing too — kind and grounded, she adds warmth to Theo's otherwise rich-but-mopey life. The themes around food, family, and second chances might be familiar, but they bring a certain sweetness that makes it enjoyable. This is especially for anyone who loves a bit of “finding yourself” while sipping wine under the Tuscan sun! What’s Meh Okay, let’s be real: it’s predictable. Like, you kinda know how it’s going to play out as soon as Theo steps foot in Tuscany. I even did guessed some of the script during watching. The script leans pretty hard on clichés; if you’ve seen Eat Pray Love or The Hundred-Foot Journey, yeah, it’s a bit like that. There’s not a lot of depth or surprise, which leaves you wanting more sometimes. Why It’s Worth a Watch At the end of the day, "Toscana" is lovely in its own way. It’s light, visually stunning, and gives off those cozy, feel-good vibes. Sure, it’s no Oscar contender, but it’s perfect for when you just want to escape into dreamy views, delicious food, and a little romance. Pop some wine, grab a snack, and enjoy a laid-back night with this heartwarming, easygoing film.
