Death Race 2000 - Review
So this isn't a good movie, or one that makes sense, but it did seem oddly watchable. But that says more about the modern movie viewer's psyche than anything. The strategy here was to ratchet the absurdity in every scene as high as they can manage. Some of the scenes didn't need to be there, but they weren't focusing on the architecture of the film. The actors were recognizable as people who know their way around a movie lot and were probably gratified to be earning something for putting in their time without worrying much about what they were creating was good or not. There's more gratuitous nudity than anyone ought to expect from a cross-country road racing story, as though it were made in the 1980s or something. I'm not super angry at having watched this, just vaguely dispirited now, so I'm going to give it just a meh rating.
