The Wicker Man - Review
This is about an isolated community visited by a police sergeant from the outside to investigate a reported murder (mainly just by questioning locals) but learns that he has gotten involved in something much different from what any outsider could know. Sergeant Howie becomes such an antihero because of his rigid ideas that what happens in the Wicker Man becomes a horrific relief. I would call the portrayal of the traditional religion of the islanders to be more uncanny than scary, by means of the music, props and costuming, and scenes featuring nudity. Not to everyone's taste but a strong and peculiar cinematic vision here.
