Le Evil Dead

I'm quite enjoying the way the Evil Dead franchise has become a spotlight for whatever is going on in the indie scene at any given moment. This time, we're drawing from the French body horror scene, including such tropes as:

• painful little moments where everyday objects are inserted into places they shouldn't be
• misogynistic violence (and its relation to the traditional family unit) as the thematic underpinning

It's pretty good! There is a lot of cgi in this movie, but most of it is pretty unobtrusive (for cgi) until you get to the final showdown at which point it looks like a videogame. I enjoyed it up to that point though. Another solid entry in what is becoming a very dependable franchise with seemingly infinite legs.
