finished watching The Bodyguard ๐๐๐๐๐
Iโve managed to avoid watching The Bodyguard all my life, but my wife wanted to watch it together with me, and so we did. And I have to admit I reasonably enjoyed it, partly because of solid performances by Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, and partly because of the early 1990s nostalgia: wardrobes, hairdos, makeup, the works.

finished watching Booksmart ๐๐๐๐๐
This film wants to be cool, smart and funny so desperately, it fails, at least to me. I thought the pace was too nervous, the characters were annoying, and the barrage of witty dialogues weren't funny. I stopped the film after about ten minutes, because I knew it wasn't going to work out for me.

I really liked Eighth Grade. It all felt very natural and credible, with fine performances throughout the film, and some pretty funny scenes too. The scene with the banana in the kitchen made me laugh out loud. ๐

This film didnโt work for me. I though there was an overabundance of face close-ups with bright backlighting, and nervous shaky-cam motion scenes, resulting in the film giving me an eye migraine. I also didnโt feel the emotion I should have felt for the characters. There was a lack of amiable personality buildup and character depth. It was too much of "Here's another dreamy scene of boys running through a field of flowers", alternated with yet another hectic, nervous ice hockey scene. Close predominantly felt forced and pretentious to me.
