Salsa masterpiece - shake your ass AND your mind, as Willie & Rubeń explore themes like media fakery, crime & urban decay, Latin American unity, and having a good time. Pedro Navaja (their reimagining of The Threepenny Opera/Mackie Die Messer) is the only song I know of that has a film adaptation. (I don't mean a music video, I mean someone a feature-length film based on the song!)

There is so much more to Dexys than just "Come On, Eileen", and you don't even have to go far to find it: Plan B, Jackie Wilson Said, I'll Show You etc right on the same album.

Hardcore Celtic speed soul FTW! :)

Great début, full of verve & joy.

(Except for Mírame, Mírate, which is so out of keeping with the rest of the album that I suspect a record exec insisted on having a formulaic ballad.)
