The All New Story
To reboot the narrative, Toxic Games brought in industry veteran Rob Yescombe, writer on franchises including CRYSIS, ALIEN: ISOLATION, STAR WARS and PS4’s upcoming RIME; winner of Best Thriller Screenplay at the Creative World Awards, and the screenwriting Award of Excellence at the Canada International Film Festival.

“The Director’s Cut is a single-location thriller” says Yescombe, “It’s about figuring out what the Qube is, and why you’re inside it. You’re told you are an astronaut inside some kind of alien structure hurtling towards Earth, but it’s also about something deeper than that.”
Under the surface, there is a subtext about games themselves – “We are conditioned to expect death and doom. We’re resigned to it. At its heart, this story is about that state of mind and how it effects the way we view our experiences, in games and in life. The Director’s Cut will feel either heroic or unnerving, depending on your own personal trust issues.”

Syndicate Douban NeoDB
Syndicate Feb. 21, 2012
genre: First Person Shooter / 第一人称射击 platform: PC / Xbox 360 / PS3 developer: Starbreeze Studios AB publisher: EA Games
Syndicate is a reboot of the Bullfrog strategy series franchise from the nineties. Unlike the original games where the focus was on tactical management of a shooter squad, this version is a first-person shooter set in the same universe but without strategy elements.

The game takes place in 2069 in a world that is ruled by syndicates following the invention of a neural chip implant that gives users direct access to a dataverse network without the use of electronic devices. Due to this technical revolution, the world has been divided between chipped and unchipped people, where the latter refuse and oppose the advancement. There is tension between the different syndicates as well, with lots of corporate espionage. Syndicates battle his by deploying bio-engineered agents that are enforced with chips. They defend the intelligence of their own syndicate and attempt to infiltrate others. Players take command of Miles Kilo, an agent of the Eurocorp syndicate. He has a new prototype chip and is sent out on a mission to test the abilities. The events of this first mission set in motion the storyline for the rest of the game, filled with espionage, betrayal, brutal murders and the opposition of unchipped civilians who are deemed terrorists.

The game is played from a first-person perspective and Kilo can carry two weapons at a time, along with grenades. The gameplay includes a cover system and health regenerates automatically over time. His DART 6 bio-chip provides most of his abilities. He can slow down time and activate x-ray vision. Another element are the breach powers. Kilo is able to hack into opponents and then choose one of the three options: Backfire (guns jam up an do some damage, makes them leave their cover, and they become more vulnerable), Suicide (enemies execute themselves or use a grenade when they are in a group) and Persuasion (enemies turn to your side for a short time, but commit suicide when there are no enemies around).

Multiplayer is available through an online four-player cooperative mode in a separate campaign based on missions from the singleplayer game. It is divided in smaller segments with resupply points. Players earn experience points through kills, healing squad members, and completing objectives. At the start of the game one of the three available classes is chosen, with further customization through power and weapon loadouts. The collected points can be spent to update the main chip through a tech tree and unlock additional breach powers, unlock weapon improvements such as reload times, recoil, capacity ... and a tech tree for abilities more closely tied to the chosen class. There is no competitive multiplayer mode.

genre: Action / 射击 platform: PC / PS3 / Xbox 360 developer: Midway Games publisher: Midway Games / Sold Out Sales & Marketing Ltd.
A new triad gang called the Golden Kane is gaining strength in Hong Kong and starts to openly threaten the Dragon Claw with it's leader James Wong, the oldest and most powerful clan. His daughter Billie Wong once had a relationship with a cop and got pregnant with Teko. One day both get kidnapped by the Zakarov Syndicate. The name of the cop who got Billie pregnant is Inspector Tequila. He is a veteran Hong Kong cop who doesn't really work by the book but has his heart in the right place. When a cop gets kidnapped (and killed) by the Golden Kane, Tequila starts investigating, against the orders of Captain Ed Lee.

You take on the role of Tequila and not only get the copkillers but also unwillingly help the Dragon Claw because of Billie and her daughter. But the task isn't an easy one since hundreds of enemies stand between him and his goal which mostly end in killing a boss or blowing stuff up.

To deal with all those bad guys Tequila has not only his fists and his trusty Enforcer (dual wield pistols) but also gets access to machine guns, shotguns, grenades and rocket launchers. But this won't be enough either. To give Tequila the ultimate advantage he also has access to Tequila Time and Tequila Bomb.

Tequila Time is like the Bullet Time in Max Payne. It slows down time and allows Tequila to better react to the situation. You can either activate it manually or it gets activated automatically if you perform a jump or interact with your environment. You can slide over tables, roll around on carts, run up stairrails and kick over tables to use as cover.

The Tequila Bomb are super moves like a Health Boost or a Spin Attack (white doves included). To fill up your Tequila Bomb Gauge, you either need to find hidden Origami Cranes or earn Style Points.

You gain Style Points if you kill your enemies during a Tequila Time move or by using your surroundings. If you are fast enough you gain Style Combos which not only fill up your Tequila Bomb Gauge faster but also multiply your Style Points. These Style Points can then be used to unlock all sorts of concept art from the main menu.

Since John Woo greatly influenced the development, you also take part in Mexican Standoffs. In these you are surrounded by some enemies and Tequila takes them on one by one but he can only lean to left and right to dodge the incoming bullets.

The game also features an online multiplayer mode with statistics. The two available game modes are Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch for up to 6 players.

Dec. 17, 2024 Review Resenha Alan Wake - The Signal e The Writer - Publicado originalmente no site XboxPlus em 27/08/2013.

https://www.nuuvem.com/br-pt/item/assemble-with-care
