@board Hi大家好，獭站的Writefreely写手站点 https://write.otter.homes 开始试运行并开放注册啦（目前允许5 blogs per user）。

长期以来中国大陆政府对创作者的政治迫害，和肉眼可见的言论和表达的自由越来越被侵占，让我希望为社群的创作自由和表达自由做一些事情。獭站最开始设立的初衷，也是希望在互联网中维护一个所有人可以自由表达的安全社群，没有言论自由其它的自由便无从说起。

海獭写手站是基于开源软件Writefreely，使用ActivityPub协议和联邦宇宙交流的自由、开放、多语言的博客站点。在这里你可以自由进行创作而免于任何政府和大公司的审查。去中心化和匿名化的博客也可以更好地保护作者的身份，并为作者提供真实销毁账号的功能。

注册账号后，你会拥有一个username@write.otter.homes的账号，可以从任何支持ActivityPub的站点关注这个账号并收到文章的推送。

Otter Log不会泄露你的个人数据，你的信息会在加密后存储在数据库中，并在你销毁账号后随之销毁。（同时在这里承诺Otter Log和其它Otter Homes站点永远永远不会将你的数据用于训练GenAI）

微小的反抗可以汇聚成激流。

以下是一些使用writefreely的技巧。

Writefreely支持Markdown格式，在文章第一行使用 # 标记标题即可添加标题。

博客可以以write.otter.homes/horaceyoung/的方式被访问，或是以@horaceyoung@write.otter.homes的方式被其他Fediverse账号关注。同时博客会自动生成一个RSS feed，可以被任何RSS Reader订阅。

需要注意Writefreely的博客可见度是在博客层级而不是文章层级。博客的可见度可以在设置里调整。

需要插入图片时，使用

的方式插入图片。Misskey的drive功能可以作为图床使用。

Write.as x sub.club

Today we’re excited to announce a collaboration with sub.club, a brand new platform to help writers sustainably publish on the fediverse! With our new integration, you can offer your most loyal readers a paid subscription, and publish exclusive blog posts that they can subscribe to from their favorite platform.

Since 2018, Write.as has been part of the fediverse, an open social network that enables people to create, share, and socialize seamlessly across a variety of services. Along with WriteFreely, the open source software behind our platform, we’ve helped bring long-form content to the millions of people on this network.

Now with sub.club, your biggest fans can help fund your writing, and read exclusive posts made just for them conveniently in their social web feed. Sub.club’s Anuj Ahooja (@quillmatiq) shows how our new integration works here:

Getting Started

Connecting your Write.as blog to sub.club is easy, and works seamlessly to keep your posts in sync across platforms.

To get started on sub.club, you’ll first need an account in the fediverse (for example, on a platform like Mastodon). If you’re already a Write.as Pro subscriber, you can grab a free account on our writing-focused community, Writing Exchange — see your Blogs page for more information.

Next, you’ll create a sub.club account and connect it to Stripe. This will allow you to set a subscription price, and start collecting payments from your subscribers.

With that out of the way, you’re ready to connect your sub.club account to Write.as!

Connecting sub.club

Go to your sub.club dashboard and scroll to find the Post via API section. Click the copy button next to where you see API key.

Now on Write.as, go to your blog’s Customize page, and scroll to the Monetization section. Paste your API key into the “sub.club” section, and save your changes.

Note: For full capabilities, be sure to also enable Federation on this page, if you haven’t already.

Now you can start monetizing your posts!

Premium Posts

Write.as makes it easy to choose which posts are free or exclusive to your sub.club subscribers. To publish a paid post, you’ll insert this special shortcode into your posts where you want the paid content to begin:

Once published, this will hide content beyond this marker, and create a link that prompts readers to continue reading on sub.club. Once there, they can also subscribe to future premium posts, if they haven’t already.

Over on the fediverse, your Write.as blog posts will show all content up to the “paid” section, with your full post directly embedded. Thanks to sub.club’s close integration with the fediverse, existing subscribers will be able to read the full post right their in their social feed! And for anyone who hasn’t subscribed yet, they’ll be able to head over to sub.club and subscribe using their fediverse account.

Here is an example of what your Write.as post will look, depending on which client you’re using:

In #WriteFreely news, I just have to wrap up SMTP support (https://writefreely.org/pull/1131) and then I think we can get v0.16 out finally.

Still had features like "require email on signup" on the roadmap for this version, but going to push that to the next release.

2024 war auch das Jahr, in dem ich wieder regelmässig gebloggt habe, nachdem ich 2023 hier im #Fediverse mit #WriteFreely zaghaft wieder angefangen hatte. Zwar hatte ich in den letzten Wochen vor Weihnachten viel zu tun, sodass es eine zweimonatige Pause gab. Aber ab nächster Woche bin ich wieder regelmässig dabei!

Eine fantasievolle Illustration der Zahl 2024, gestaltet aus Naturmaterialien in einer Waldlandschaft. Hey does anyone here know of or offer community-style hosting for a #WriteFreely instance. I don't have any objection to supporting write.as per se, except that $6/mo for hosting a personal blog with very basic features is outrageous. I'm willing to pay 20-25USD/yr for something like this, otherwise I'll just end up sticking it on a VPS somewhere and self-hosting.

Percebi que a imagem de contêiner do #WriteFreely teve a última atualização há quase 4 anos! ⏳️

Hoje, a documentação do projeto diz não haver contêiner oficial para ambiente de produção.

Mais uma coisa na fila para pesquisar e tentar fazer depois... Há outras prioridades no momento.

Just rolled out some fediverse-related improvements:

- Now you can follow Write.as blogs from Ghost! There was a tiny bug with this that we just fixed. (WriteFreely PR: https://writefreely.org/pull/1373)

- We now support the `preview` property as a fallback for Articles. This will make your posts look much nicer as more platforms support it! (WriteFreely PR: https://writefreely.org/pull/1374)

Our OG service is Mastodon! We run glitch-soc, which gives you longer posts, markdown formating, and plenty of other fun stuff!

The second (and fastest growing!) service we offer is PeerTube. Our PeerTube allows import from your YouTube channel and 50GB of free video hosting!

WriteFreely

We've recently added WriteFreely to our services! It isn't a perfect service, but it's the best option of those available and we think it's a great addition, and we hope the long-form games writing community will grow with our contribution to it.

The Rules

We wish to run a friendly, kind and inclusive server, and do not have any tolerance for discrimination or bigotry of any kind, including but not limited to racism, ableism, homophobia and transphobia. It can be hard enough for people to be their true selves offline, let's not make it harder online too.

We also have no tolerance for the promotion or nazi, alt-right and ultra-conservative ideologies.

In the pursuit of accessibility, we ask users to add alt-text to their images where they're apply to for the advantage of those using screen readers to interact with us. However, we also do not tolerate abuse toward users who might forget to do so or aren't used to doing it yet.

Legal Status

All of our infrastructure and user data is held in Australia.
