Thornless blackberries are ripening up.
I picked some trailing #blackberries this morning. I like picking some not fully ripened & dipping those sour ones into sea salt to eat.
Trailing blackberries are the only blackberries native to #VancouverIsland.

This past weekend I met up with @morgancarmont to go explore the forests of #VancouverIsland. To say we had an epic weekend would be an understatement.

Amongst our many adventures, we found a new #oldgrowthforest to explore and I had to take a photo in front of one - the size of them is just incomprehensible otherwise. For reference, I am over 187cm tall. This single Big Leaf Maple is easily 10m diameter at its base.

An enormous Big Leaf Maple, easily 10m diameter at the base. I stand 187cm tall, and the nearby branch is nearly as thick as I am tall. It's incredible to see this behemoths still in nature.

This is my fave #bench in Esquimalt Gorge Park. I've enjoyed many books & eaten several lunches, at this spot. It's tucked away, off the main loop around the Japanese gardens & it's a really nice shady resting space. I adore all the ferns & trees that hug this rest stop.
