After being a long time on the waiting list, I had my first therapy session with the therapist who diagnosed me with autism 3 years ago and she is amazing.

The therapy sessions will take place online in the future but the one today took place in her office in a beautiful old house with a lot of cute details and funny patterns, that she shares with other therapists and their autistic clients. Autistic wonderland 🥰

After 5 minutes she suggested an ADHD assessment, which will be at the 18th November. She does depth psychological psychotherapy with autistic clients for decades and she can read me like a book. When she told me that the sessions will take place in a monthly interval, because autistic people need a lot of time to process, I immediately responded that I am pretty fast at processing things. She didn't say anything, just waited and I started to cry, saying that my ADHD is always ten steps ahead and my autism hobbles behind it, constantly overwhelmed, something that I didn't realise before.

She told me that we will give my autism the space that it needs and it felt so good to be seen. To not having to explain my autistic needs, but being guided by an experienced professional, who helps me understand myself.

It was such a wise decision to wait for over a year to have a therapist who has a deep understanding of what autism is and who knows exactly what they are doing.
