Saturday started late - I mean 8am late! I had a late night last night & just slept thru!

It’s been another quiet day a few small chores done & then I made the mistake of trying to turn back on some of the macbook’s protection features - BAD idea!

So will have to go thru the whole DFU restore process again, (reinstall the firmware) & then reinstall Macos then put linux back on. Apple do NOT like you trying to put anything other than their OS on their boxes!

So lesson learned, hopefully 3rd time will be the charm!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, I have been surprisingly sanguine over the setback with the MacBook, perhaps it is because I (mostly) understand it, with stuff like the blinds last week where I did not fully understand what was going on & did not feel in control it gets far more stressful!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 931 , Saturday 16/05/2026

Saturday started earlier than I would have liked, I was aiming for a lie in but my body decided that 7am was late enough!

Today has been … frustrating.

Playing Elite Dangerous & nearly home with the meta alloys & a chunk of exploration data when I misjudged a landing on a high gravity planet & kerboom scratch one ship! Luckily I had insurance so got my ship back, but the cargo & all the data is gone. On the plus side I am back in the system where the meta alloys are at … although finding them will be more difficult since the sites I hit before have yet to recover!

So we start again …

We had a Babylon 5 fest this afternoon, followed by ‘The Dark Knight’.

We had a takeaway for tea, fried chicken goes well with a bit of Batman!

Final Thoughts.

It’s only a game but the set back really stung, but what doesn’t kill you makes you remember not to do that silly thing again!

Wednesday has been a quiet day, no gym as they were closed today - new equipment being delivered!

My back has finally decided that it may forgive me for the abuse it got on Sunday & Monday!

I need to get some stuff done tomorrow though!

Thursday started a little later at around 07:15.

Another pleasantly warm day here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire & another quiet relaxing day.

The ‘high point’ was putting up 2 corkboards for Mrs S after she pestered me into it. Didn’t help with any of the chores mind.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 987 , Saturday 11/07/2026

Saturday started around 07:15 & not without a struggle, I really did not want to get up but noises both in our house & next door forced me out of bed.

It’s been a Lovely day weather wise & it encouraged me to get my chores done, clean the upstairs floors & then this afternoon reinstall linux (in the shape of Kubuntu) on my MBP.

We had a chinese takeaway for tea & watched ‘Night at the Museum’ or rather Mrs S did, I kinda watched it in passing as I messed with the laptop.

Not a bad day, I even made some inroads in clearing out the front bedroom - there is still a lt of junk to shift before we can decorate but progress has been made!

Tuesday started at just after 7am.

It’s been a grey & drab day, the British winter returning to the way I remember it as a kid!

Its been one of those quiet days today with nothing to really diffentiate it.

Well apart from chocolate brownies & custard for dessert at tea time!

I am just so overwhelmed by world events, I saw a thing on Fartarge faking a photo op with a kid with brain cancer, turns out it’s AI slop.
All this *spreads arms wide* is filling up what little space I have spare in what passes for my brain has me avoiding almost all other human interactions.
Where once I would have commented on a toot now I don’t, it takes a physical effort to keep in touch with folk.

Monday started at around 07:30.

Mrs S was off to the off to the office so I had the house to myself!

It’s been a reasonably quiet day, the sun showed its face around lunchtime so after lunch I had another hour doing decorating prep work in the box room.

Spent the rest of the afternoon chasing baddies around medieval Bohemia.

Final Thoughts.

I’ve discovered that topping my Costco choc chip cookies with a spoonful of vanilla ice cream is a lovely way to enjoy them! Sadly my waistline will not agree!

In other news Sophie mog has now got a new item in her daily schedule, she will come & sit on the arm of my chair with me for an hour or so in the early afternoon, just prior to her main afternoon nap & allow me to stroke between her ears - her 2nd most favourite thing after being brushed.
This is an agreeable arrangement for both of us. 😊

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 993 , Friday 17/07/2026

Friday started bright & early & I managed to get my squirrelly ass down to the gym.

Tried the new treadmill - not a fan, (which it lacks, a sad oversight given the current temperatures!).

It’s been a productive day in small ways.

The coffee machine has been cleaned & descaled, the dishwasher has had a cleaning cycle & a variety of other minor tasks.

I got some new shoes for round the house yesterday & they are wonderfully light & comfortable!

Pizza for tea with cider to wash it down while we continued with our Babylon 5 fest - currently in the first quarter of series 2.

It has been another pleasant summer day here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire & while I have not achieved anything significant progress has been made!

Sunday started after a nice lay in at about 8am.

It’s been a mostly quiet day, a few chores & then an afternoon spent catching up on some of Mrs S’s shows.

Huntsman pie and salad for tea, with our favourite strawgogs & ice cream for dessert!

Not a bad day at all - my back has forgiven me, which is a good thing because there are a few jobs to do next week that will need me to abuse it again!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 996 , Monday 20/07/2026

Monday & I reluctantly got my ass down to the gym. Not a bad gym session, I am slowly settling into the current difficulty level on the bike, I am happy with my walk rate on the treadmill, I need a couple more weeks at 5.8 km/h before I take it up to 5.9 - I don’t want to stress my heart too much.

I’m firmly stable with the weights, my right arm was hurting after previous sessions but that is now passing as I get stronger.

A relaxed rest of the day after doing my chores.

Chicken skewers & salad for tea, with, yes you guessed it, strawberries & ice-cream for dessert.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1017 , Monday 10/08/2026

Monday started early, as Mondays do. Down to the gym then back for a quick breakfast before we drove across to my late MiL’s place to collect the final odds & sods & let the clean & clear crew in.

One of the delights of the trip across is seeing the glorious countryside, I shall miss doing this trip on a regular basis!

Then back home for a mega ‘The Capture’ Season 3 fest to take Mrs S’s mind off what was happening to her childhood home!

Had a naughty takeaway for tea, we were going to go out for a pub meal but I was just too tired!

Final Thoughts.

Well that’s it, it has taken far longer than I ever imagined but my parents-in-law’s house is now being prepped for sale.

The crew will be there tomorrow so we need to go over tomorrow afternoon to collect the keys but then it is done! All that will be needed then is for us to keep am. Eye on the place until it is sold.

What will we do with our weekends!

Tuesday started around 7am.

I’ve done a few things around the house & in the garden today, nothing major but I’m glad I got them done.

Have finally got around to ordering some lockable ladder brackets for our big set of ladders that have been knocking around the back garden without a proper home for far too long.

Pulled pork burgers & salad for tea & I caved to the temptation of hitting the strawberries & ice cream for pud. It’s amazing how far one can stretch a punnet with a bit of imagination.

The weather continues to play nice & that has made today a positively pleasant day.

Back to the gym in the morning - still something that needs a force of will, hopefully there will come a time where it is just habit.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 999 , Thursday 23/07/2026

Thursday started just after 7am.

Chores followed breakfast.

The ladder brackets arrived yesterday so I took the bull by the horns & fitted them.

The fixings provided were very brittle & after some trial & error I found that a set of coach bolts finally secured the brackets firmly.

Why is it a simple job - drill 4 holes & place 2 brackets with 4 bolts take sooooooo long!
Hey ho done now, the big ladders have a proper home for the first time in a long time!

Spent the afternoon investigating a couple of derelict spaceships -I do live the variety that Starfield provides!

Costco’s best pulled pork lasagne for tea.

It has been a warmer day today which made working outside pleasant.

Oh Nuggan’s holey nuts! It’s been a thousand days since I discovered I’m Neurospicy!

I wish I had a more exciting day to report but sadly the most exciting thing that happened was that I mopped the bathroom floor!

That said this morning’s gym session went really well, effort level 9 has been conquered on the bike & I took the treadmill up to 5.9 kmh & survived the experience!

The weights are still not progressing as I would hope, my ability to lift (rather than pull) weights is not noticeably improving but I soldier on!

It’s been another sunny summer day here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire & the day has been a mix of chores & Starfield.

Pizza for tea - I can resist anything but temptation!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1018 , Tuesday 11/08/2026

Tuesday started a bit later than normal at just before 07:30, it would have started later but our noisy neighbours had been hoovering up & shouting since 06:30 & I just gave up fighting it.

It was a lovely relaxed morning after breakfast & a few chores.

We went out for lunch - & had a delicious meal at a pub we discovered in January.

We got back & settled in to finish our ‘The Capture’ season 3 fest.

The phone went at 3pm to say that the clean & clear crew would finish at 4pm & we needed to collect the keys … Mrs S decided to go on her own, which was fine by me as Starfield was calling.

Then it all went wrong - our hopes that this was the final stage before actually selling the house were dashed.

The clean & clear people had cleared out the property but had utterly failed to clean anything & worse had broken the remote controlled garage door!!
They have damaged the tracking arm that pulls / pushes the door open / shut, it is visibly distorted & out of its track. They are trying to claim it wasn’t them but no-one else has been there & it worked fine when we left yesterday morning!

So now instead of spending tomorrow celebrating our wedding anniversary we will be trying to get the garage door fixed as it is jammed open at the moment. Folks cannot get into the main house or steal anything (since there is nothing to steal). It is still a worry though.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1001 , Saturday 25/07/2026

Saturday started just after 7am & we had a relaxed breakfast before I did my chores.

Then off across the hills to treat my Dad to a meal at his favourite eatery for his birthday!

The journey across took forever as there were roadworks everywhere!

We had a Lovely lunch (I admit to succumbing to the temptation of the Brunch but will be having the chicken & beef sizzle that my sister had next time because it looked & smelt fabulous!

We had a lovely time & an uneventful trip back.

They make some magnificent cakes where we had lunch & being full after the main course said cake was boxed & brought home for a very naughty early supper which we enjoyed while watching ‘Predestination’ a moderately mind bending movie but a decent watch!

Final Thoughts.

A really good day - it rained on us all the way home but to be fair we really, really need some rain!

(For those who are curious it was a truly epic piece of fresh strawberry Victoria sponge cake!)

Sunday started after a bit of a lie in at around 07:30.

It’s been a quiet day after yesterday’s excitement with much lazing around after the chores were done.

Fried chicken takeaway for tea, although Mrs S insists on ordering it early - we generally eat around 6pm. Of a Sunday when I have had a late breakfast & lunch this means I’m nowhere near hungry enough to enjoy a takeaway properly. Still what does my opinion matter?

We are going across to my late MiLs tomorrow, I need to clear out the garage, My late FiL was an engineer & a DIY enthusiast & he left me all his tools. I have not had the heart to sort thru them before but the clean & clear people will be there mid August so I have to suck it up & sort thru all his tools.

Thursday started at around 07:30 thanks to our noisy neighbours.

It has been a quiet day, we went out for lunch (Caesar salad for me) & continued our Hobbit film fest.

It has been stupidly hot today we topped out at 34ºC today, tomorrow will be a little cooler at 29º then settling into the mid to low 20s over the weekend.

The long term forecast is not promising, more hot weather & not much rain!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1019 , Wednesday 12/08/2026

Wednesday started at around 07:30, it being our wedding anniversary I decided to have a day off the gym. Also the fact that we had to find someone to repair the garage door was also a factor.

Breakfast followed accompanied with gifts & cards. (Yes I remembered!)

Mrs S managed to find a repair company that would come out quickly so we got our skates on & drove across to my MiLs.

As luck would have it no parts were required & the job was finished in time for us to go to Chatsworth Farm shop cafe for lunch & to get goodies for the remainder of the week.

We went wild & for the first time in a long time had a main corse (steak & blue cheese ciabatta ) & coffee with a dessert (I had a decent sized slice of Bakewell cake).

We got back in time to start a Hobbit / LotR fest, the timing being immaculate as the movie finished in time to us to enjoy the 91% partial eclipse - although a badly placed tree stopped us watching it IRL although thanks to the Royal Observatory’s live coverage (their insistence on using YT & having to have full cookie access did not impress me though!)

It was a lovely evening & we munched on artisan quiche & drank Asti Martini as the moon skipped lightly across the face of the sun. The sky went suitably dark & the there were a few few moments of profound silence (disturbed only by screaming kids & a passing jet airliner - some folk have no sense of occasion!)

Final Thoughts.

It seems the reason that the clean clear crew only did the clear was because Mrs S did not specify the ‘clean’ bit, so now we have to track down another company to do that.

Yesterday morning I thought we were home & dry on the subject of my late MiLs property but, in the words of Douglas Adams, we are in fact barely thru the door & not even toweling ourselves off vigorously yet!

Still not a bad day for all that, it actually went a lot better than it might have!

Monday started early, it being a gym day.

Why are Mondays always a struggle! (Prolly all the naught food I have over the weekend & the fact that I still don’t have a set exercise regimen at home - but don’t tell anyone else that!).

After breakfast & a few chores Mrs S & I went across to my late MiL’s house - Mrs S to sort thru some bowls & crockery in the kitchen & me to tackle my late FiL’s garage. So many tools!

I have made a start, but it will take at least 2 more trips to finish the job I think!

We stopped off at Sainsgogs for a late lunch - their meal deal was just what we needed, quick but filling. Then home.

Relaxed this afternoon finishing the latest series of ‘For all Mankind’. I do like that show.

Salad & roast chicken breasts for tea with strawberries & ice cream for pud while we continued our journey thru the original series of ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ they really do not make TV like that any more (the new version is good but not as good as the original with Christopher Timothy! )

Final Thoughts.

A busy day & looking at the garage it does not look like I have made too much progress, but progress has been made!

Somehow I have to find some room for the tools I plan to keep! I also need to find a good home for those that I will never use!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1005 , Wednesday 29/07/2026

Up early to go to the gym, not a bad session although my knee complained about the leg press!

Got back did a couple of chores then had breakfast.

Had to go for a blood test &, as is the case these days, the phlebotomist had problems fining a willing vein!

Mrs S has been pestering me to do the front hedge so I tackled that this morning & then, in a fit of ADHD enthusiasm topped the hawthorn tree. I only had hedge trimmers & a set of long handled loppers to tackle the job & the hawthorn was not for giving in easily as the many scratches on my arms attest!

My entire body now hates me, but at least the job is done!

I was treated to a chinese takeaway this evening for my efforts so that was nice! It went well with an episode of Cadfael!

A much, much busier day than I at first envisioned but the front garden looks better, although I need to get out there & tackle the runaway wild strawberries next!

Thursday has been a recovery day, after yesterday’s exertions!

A quiet day, with breakfast & chores to start the day then a bit of exploring the galaxy.

I did make a start on sorting thru the tools & stuff that I brought back on Monday!

I’m toying with going over to my late MiL’s tomorrow & do another stint in the garage but we shall see how things are in the morning. I still ache from yesterday.
