Centrato, anzi superato, l’obiettivo dei 2 mila miliardi di capitalizzazione. «Verso Marte e oltre», ha dichiarato Musk poco prima dell’apertura, collegandosi da remoto per suonare la campanella inaugurale, mentre in sala, per la famiglia, era presente e gongolante la madre Maye Musk.
Con la quotazione, il patrimonio complessivo di #Musk — tra SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink e The Boring Company — ha superato i .1000 miliardi di dollari, facendone il primo trilionario della storia.
UN TRILIONE: mille miliardi di dollari, un milione di milioni. Il pensiero va ai «fantastiliardi» di Paperon de’ Paperoni, una ricchezza così grande da sfuggire a qualsiasi misura. Infatti, per capire cosa significhi questa cifra servono paragoni concreti. Spendendo un milione di dollari al giorno, ci vorrebbero 2.740 anni per arrivare a zero. Un trilione di dollari, equivalente allo stipendio annuale di 13 milioni di lavoratori statunitensi, è anche una scala economica nazionale: vicino al Pil di Australia e Spagna, pari a quello dei Paesi Bassi, superiore a quello di molte economie avanzate come Taiwan, Irlanda, Israele, Belgio e Svezia. Significa che il patrimonio di un singolo individuo ha raggiunto e superato la produzione annuale di beni e servizi di uno stato del primo mondo.
QUESTO TRAGUARDO è figlio di una grande promessa. SpaceX è stata fondata nel 2002 per abbassare i costi dei lanci e rendere possibile, per Musk, una futura presenza umana su Marte. In poco più di vent’anni l’azienda è diventata il simbolo della nuova economia tecnologica, anche a dispetto dei bilanci: ha introdotto i razzi riutilizzabili Falcon e trasformato l’industria spaziale, per lungo tempo dominio degli stati, in un mercato conteso da grandi imprese private. Il secondo pilastro è Starlink, la costellazione di satelliti che porta internet nelle aree prive di infrastrutture e rappresenta uno degli asset più redditizi della società.
INTORNO ALL’OPERAZIONE, oltre alla borsa ufficiale, si sono mossi anche i mercati ombra: strumenti e piattaforme che anticipano il valore futuro dell’azienda. Ieri, prima dell’apertura, alcuni scambi indicavano già valutazioni oltre i 2.300-2.400 miliardi di dollari, più del 35% sopra l’offerta iniziale. Anche i mercati predittivi come Polymarket hanno spinto la corsa, puntando sul superamento dei 2 trilioni nelle prime fasi di scambio. Scommesse vinte. Per le azioni, invece, denaro puntato sul futuro prima ancora che il futuro accada, spesso ignorando i fondamentali.
E nel caso delle imprese di Musk lo scarto tra promesse e risultati è evidente: nel 2025 SpaceX ha registrato 18,7 miliardi di ricavi e 4,9 miliardi di perdita netta, con perdite cumulate per 41,3 miliardi al 31 marzo e un rosso di 4,27 miliardi nel solo primo trimestre, contro i 528 milioni dell’anno precedente.
IL CAPITALISMO è strutturalmente orientato all’accumulo: non produce valori d’uso ma valori di scambio, e a guidarlo sono i profitti, non i bisogni sociali. Oggi però assistiamo a concentrazioni di ricchezza senza precedenti. E a qualcosa di più. Alcuni imprenditori controllano infrastrutture essenziali come reti satellitari, piattaforme digitali e sistemi di intelligenza artificiale, diventando attori del funzionamento e del disciplinamento sociale. Anche per questo attorno a Musk si è sviluppato un vasto dibattito politico e culturale: la sua influenza pubblica cresce insieme alla ricchezza, dalle posizioni espresse sui social al controllo di una piattaforma globale come X.
C’È PERÒ QUALCOSA di antico in questa nuova febbre del futuro. Nel Novecento il culto della modernità e della macchina si era già coniugato a pulsioni reazionarie: il futurismo italiano celebrava velocità, forza e potenza industriale, finendo per confluire nello squadrismo mussoliniano. Oggi, la visione di Musk rischia di fornire l’infrastruttura culturale e tecnologica per un nuovo autoritarismo tecnocratico, che, volendo, si può chiamare anche #tecnofascismo."
