Meet Sampson: The World’s Largest Horse.
In 1846, on a farm in Toddington Mills, Bedfordshire, England, a Shire horse named Sampson was born. This gentle giant grew to be one of the most remarkable horses in history due to his immense size and gentle nature. Shire horses are often large, but Sampson stood out even among them.
Sampson reached an astonishing height of 21.2½ hands (86.5 inches or about 220 cm) and weighed a staggering 3,360 pounds (1,524 kg).
