Can you name ONE (one only please) SF/F book, written this century (2001+), that has absolutely blown your mind? Not just something you liked, or that was good, I'm looking for the absolute best books written this century.
Boost for visibility please.
A while ago, I had the pleasure and privilege of reading One Night Only, a Doctor Who novella featuring Fela Kuti, written by Tade Thompson.
You can now read my spoiler-free review over on the blog.

Book Review: All that We See or Seem, by Ken Liu
A challenging novel that fearlessly faces a world full of AI

First #blog for December is a #review of Lavanya Lakshminarayan's The Ten Percent Thief, which I'd picked up at WorldCon last year. It is a truly excellent satire of late stage capitalism and the idea of meritocracy (among other things). It's decentralised form brilliantly matches its substantive critique.
I had some minor critiques, but nothing to detract from the its overall excellence. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys #SF #cyberpunk or #dystopian fiction.

Another one I hadn't planned to write a #blog on: John Scalzi's Interdependency series. I enjoyed it, but finished it with a sense that it had more potential than it managed to realise, so did a #review to work out what it was I thought was missing.
On reflection, I would've liked Scalzi to do more with his interesting political economy, but besides that, it's still a decent read. Full review, including choice Lenin quotes, below:

A more positive #blog today. I did a #review of Pluto, an excellent short anime about robots. At a time when all we hear is how AI will either drown us in slop, or take over the world (or both), it's quite nice to engage with an #anime that takes a more old-fashioned approach to robots, while still exploring some fundamental philosophical themes.
It's eight emotionally gut-punching episodes, and I'd certainly recommend it.

I tried to get conversation going about Murderbot on a writers forum, and now I'm frustrated at the lack of interest.
I genuinely don't understand how anyone can claim to be into sci-fi and not love this show.
My schedule for Seattle #Worldcon later this month!
Come watch my panels on hopeful fiction and speculative poetry, or check out the research posters (including mine) at any time in the 4th floor Paramount Lounge. Looking forward to talking #solarpunk with other #SF fans!
