That's an absurdly impressive list of authors giving cover blurbs - Alan Moore, Samantha Shannon, and Adrian Tchaikovsky! A body-warping plague escapes from thawing Siberian permafrost and changes how a series of narrators experience death and loss, with each chapter constructed like a short story, with loose connections between them. Despite the perspective shifts, and some turns towards surreal or more traditional sci fi elements, the book is quite repetitive with, for example, multiple narrators having quite similar stories of unrequited love with a person who is about to die. This, along with a bewilderingly poor final chapter, means that my initial fairly high interest from the 'City of Laughter' and 'Pig Son' chapters wasn't sustained. #SequoiaNagamatsu #Bookstodon @bookstodon
