An obscure read this one, with zero written reviews on The Storygraph or Goodreads: a 1995 collection of New Zealand <a href="/tags/scifi/" rel="tag">#SciFi</a> short stories, many by unknown authors. I'd love to say this is packed with gems, but a few stories are quite poor, and although most are well written as prose even most of the better writers don't master the short story form: in many an intriguing SF high concept is introduced and described, but with little twist or development. Just finished <a href="/tags/reading/" rel="tag">#reading</a> Star Ship Troopers by Robert A Heinlein. Better than (and very different to) the film. Reminds me more of Full Metal Jacket but set on a different planet. My review of Radiant Star by Ann Leckie. This was perhaps the easiest book in the Imperial Radch series to understand.
