A pretty lizard in the process of shedding its skin visited our patio today, and my wife took some pictures.

The lizard has expanded its throat sac, which is orange-reddish with tiny white protuberances. The lizard is shedding its skin, and so it appears to be partly shrouded in a thin white linen-like material. But the material is skin. The lizard is perched on the back of a lawn chair, which is gray and shows three straps arranged vertically in this tightly cropped image. The out-of-focus background is olive-green.

I’m going in!

I have Northern Watersnake friends that live on, and in, my stacked firewood. We’re neighbors you could say.

But now we have a contractor who is building a new awning and I need to temporarily relocate some of the wood. I’m going to have to squeeze my way in there.

Of course the snakes will think this is hilarious.

Parts of two stacks of firewood are pictured, the front one a bit lower than the back. They are both stacked near a shed. Auto the front stack, a Northern Watersnake is curled up with its face looking at me. On the back row is a second snake entangled in the wood. Both snakes are medium-sized about 2+ feet long and have gray and reddish triangular patterns.
