A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation, Volume 7 by Misaki (2023) takes the manga series in a new direction and ups ante. Unfortunately the anime series ends well before this story arc begins. Maybe there will be a second coeur or series in the future.

I haven't read much by Brandon Sanderson, only the first three volumes of the Stormlight Archives. I didn't like his writing much, even if I didn't mind the story itself, so I never picked up the rest.
But I got it into my head to give those books a second chance, I'm a few chapters into The Way of Kings and I'm much less annoyed this time around. I'm also forcing myself to read a little slower than I usually do, maybe that has something to do with it.

Since 1987 I've been tracking my reading. My tracking years run from June 9th to June 8th of the next year. Today ends my Thirty-nineth year of tracking. To read more about the reasons, see 2019's post. This year I have continued with reading short stories and with my book diary now fully digital, I have been relying less on GoodReads for my tracking.
Since getting my spreadsheet up to date, I haven't been hand writing what I've read in my book diary. It's just easier and more accurate to do it digitally. I am, however keeping track of what page I would be on if I were handwriting. I am on page, 542, or page 53 of my current volume. That's thirteen pages of reading since last year.

When reading a blurb that will be cut off by the pop-up window that it's spawned into, I don't want:
1) "...by the bestselling author of..."
2) Some long as recommendation by some other author.
Neither of those things tells me anything about the damn book. But the pretentiousness of the approach is likely to turn me off from considering the book.
I say this as someone who buys and reads more than 200 books a year.
