Recently upgraded to ChatGPT 5.1 and Claude's new version, but honestly no improvement at all. Service is super unstable! Prices keep rising while user experience gets worse. Charging such high fees but systems downgrade anyway, wasting tokens and slower speeds. Did all these AI models catch a plague these days? Just capital closed-loop investments everywhere. Version numbers go up but the quality is basically idiotic.

Every time I interact with anyone from car dealers I assume they're greedy, not genuine, and lying outright. Am I wrong?

So I dropped off the Taycan at Porsche Westwood (because Porsche Boston moved to Natick temporarily...) last Monday because the instrument cluster (giant screen in front of steering wheel) suddenly shut off while I was driving, and an error was thrown in the car.

Now that kind of thing has been happening from time to time, especially more often in the winter. and it'd be back to normal after several hours. But it doesn't always throw an error. I figured the dealer wouldn't be able to do anything because it is not reproducible. This time it threw an error (like the first time it happened), so I figured I'd take it to the dealer.

I called last Wednesday - no update.
Called again last Friday - no update.

Called again today before service department closed. When the service advisor (SA) answered, he said, he was just discussing with the tech, and they believe particular software update and recall would solve it. It should be ready tomorrow.

I do tend to believe it is a software issue, because how flaky and unstable the problem is. But all open recalls for Porsche Taycan don't mention instrument cluster. There may be internal bulletins about that though.

I didn't press him on what service bulletin or recall he was referring to on the phone. I guess I'll need to see tomorrow.

ANYWAY I'm counting the days it stays at the dealer towards the threshold for the Massachusetts Lemon law.

Gosh I wish I don't have to own a car.

So, Google is flexing to create the largest e-waste problem. In name of security (aka, force people to upgrade to new phones and trash a perfectly working device), Google is blocking anyone using custom ROMs on their smartphones, even if these ROMs bring latest OS and security patches, long abandoned by the original manufacturer. Apps refuse to work if the device is not seen as “certified” on the Play Store. Apps refuse to work if they are sideloaded. So that leaves you with a device that can run Android, but you can’t use apps that depend on Google Services. Things like push notifications, payments, banking, gone. GrapheneOS has called them out for this move. There is a way to manually add your device to Google Play devices and then you need to use Aurora Store instead of Play Store to install restricted apps. But for how long will this work?

Time to port postmarketOS and Linux to my Hisense A9.

The most infuriating thing to me is when a marketing executive, that has never used a screen reader a day in their life, fights me back on a comprehensive accessibility report they asked me to do. I provided logs. I provided video. I provided version numbers for everything. and they fight me and say we can’t reproduce anything in the video. Could you send over a screenshot of the NVDA settings you have, and also, have you tried tabbing? What version of NVDA are you using, as if they are the expert and I am not. I want to write back, downloading a screen reader for a day does not make you an expert. No sir, and never tell me to send a screenshot again, or I will triple my invoice. #Accessibility #Rant

I tried to make a longer rant than my usual clips. So this is more practice than anything else.

A rant about when you're in a bad neighborhood, the only nice looking buildings are run by the government. The only park within a short walking trip of my home (about a mile and a half) is only there as the courthouse, library and #police station needed to look nice.

If the #usa cared about its people, everything would be like this.
